Information for Contractors

The University of Toronto is very interested in working with general contractors who share our vision of delivering high quality projects of architectural significance.  We believe projects are partnerships between owner, user, design teams, contractors and facilities managers, and that collaboration is critical for each party to achieve success.

Our projects run in value from $100,000 to over $100M and over the past six years, total annual construction value of active projects has grown from $500M to over $1B.  Projects vary is size, complexity and value and can take place in any of our many buildings which have an average age of 78 years.

General contractors are prequalified for a three-year term and invited to bid on tenders that suit their specific bonding levels and expertise.

Specialty contractors such as abatement, restoration, mechanical and electrical are also prequalified for projects which are primarily of that specialty and for which they would act as general.
